Introduction
Between 1964 and 1971, reading Bill Arter’s latest Columbus Vignette in the Columbus Sunday Dispatch was always a treat. Mr. Arter combined his journalism skills with artistic talent to feature a building or larger scene with the result that his meticulously researched descriptions brought history to life. Some of the buildings he featured had already been torn down others have since been demolished making the vignettes important additions to the Columbus historical record.
Mr. Arter published four volumes of his Columbus Vignettes. The books have been out of print since the 1970s. You may find them in your local library. Amazon and eBay often have used copies for sale.
