The End of the Railroad
As the Twentieth Century drew to a close the Army Depot’s mission and name changed once again. Columbus was no longer the Army’s warehousing center ending the need for the Depot’s railroad. August, 1992, was the end of rail operations and followed in the next few years by the removal of the track. In 1993 the Depot was renamed - Defense Supply Center Columbus.
