Six men on a pump car. This photo came without a caption in a small
collection of Columbus, Newark and Zanesville photos. It is an
interurban line and judging from the terrain it could be the CN&Z.
The track looks new and still needs to have track bonds added at the rail
joints for the electrical ground return. The trolley wire is hard to see, but
it is there.
The men have their lunch boxes and some tools, ready for a day's work.
Having pumped one of these pump cars before I can tell you it is hard work
especially going up that grade behind the men.
