1905 Streetcar Schedules

        December 11, 1905, the Columbus Dispatch published the following article announcing new streetcar schedules for the Columbus Railway Company's fifteen routes.  The addition of new streetcars, some of which were equipped for multiple Unit (MU) operation, allowed for this improvement in service.

Half-Minute Car Service on High Street

"Trains" Will Be Placed Into Service Probably This Week

SIXTYFOUR "EXTRAS"

        The new cars of the Columbus Railway Company which have started to arrive will be placed in service probably before the end of this week.  They will be operated as regular cars and during rush hours two of them will be coupled and operated by one motorman.

        A complete schedule of the operation of the cars on the various  divisions is presented, especially for the benefit of those who are patrons of the first or last regular cars.

DIVISIONS INTERLAP

        A complete schedule of the High street and Schiller street divisions provides for ten minutes service, but in fact from Olentangy park to Schiller and High street, there is a five minute service, and a ten minute service from Schiller street south to Steeleton and from High street east on Schiller.  It is practically one division over the entire route and the same is true of other lines, including that on the West Side of Long street, Cleveland avenue, West Goodale street and the patrons of each receive better service than the time card indicates.

HALF MINUTE SCHEDULE

        From High and Long streets to Sandusky and Broad streets there is a five minute service, but the cemetery cars and the Camp Chase cars are on a ten minute schedule.  From Livingston avenue to Goodale street, on High street, there is a half minute service nearly all day, and over part of the route 200 "regulars" and 64 "extras" operate during the busy hours.
